Compliance Program Leader

The Compliance Program Leader develops and coordinates WPCU’s overall compliance program, ensuring that credit union activities comply at all times with appropriate laws and regulations.

1.Develops and coordinates a compliance program; including quality control testing, that ensures WPCU remains in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, rules, and statutory requirements; (20%)

2.Provide knowledge of compliance laws and regulations and effectively communicate all compliance related matters as needed; (15%)

3.Analyzes new and pending laws and regulations which directly affect WPCU’s practices and makes recommendations based upon business impact analysis for achieving compliance; (15%)

4.Develops and coordinates a compliance program that Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed. Reports gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated; (10%)

5.Research compliance inquiries and provide guidance to the business; (10%)

6.Develops and revises practices and procedures as they relate to compliance; (5%)

7.Reviews product and service disclosures and advertising materials for compliance with applicable rules; (5%)

8.Participates in the oversight of regulatory compliance audits and/or examinations; (5%)

9.Coordinates and directs the SAFE Act compliance program; (5%)

10.Provides compliance assistance and guidance during implementation of new products and/or services; (5%)

11.Submits quarterly compliance performance reports to senior management and Enterprise Risk Management, as needed. (5%)

Required Skills

The Compliance Program Leader has expert knowledge of compliance laws and regulations, federal and state credit union regulations, as well as operating areas, functions, and products of WPCU. The following are also required:

1.A Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline;

2.At least 5 years’ experience in a depository financial institution with at least 2 years’ experience in a compliance role;

3.Completion of a continuing education program in credit union compliance; and

4.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

5.Certification in a financial regulatory compliance field is preferred.
