TITLE: Loan Manager REPORTS TO: CEO
Our small, niche credit union serving the Ohio State Highway Patrol is seeking its next Loan Manager. If you are passionate about helping people and have supervisory experience in a lending capacity, consider joining our team! There is no better field of membership you can serve, and you get to do it M-F, 7:45AM - 4:45PM with no scheduled nights or weekends.
PURPOSE Ensure lending (consumer and real estate) policies and procedures best serve the credit union and its members. Manage the day-to-day operations of consumer and real estate lending. Ensure compliance with state and federal lending laws. Monitor and analyze economic conditions affecting the consumer and real estate loan department and recommend appropriate action.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Serve as the credit union’s most senior loan officer, second only to the CEO. Accept and process applications from members. Answer member calls and provide member support on lending services. · Supervise loan officers, train them, and enable their professional development. Perform annual reviews. Perform coaching and work with employees on corrective action as needed. · Maintain a positive department culture that builds loan officers up and rewards teamwork and exceptional member service. · Draft and submit recommended policy and procedure changes. · Ensure the consumer and real estate loan procedures, services, products, and documentation meet federal and state regulations. Work with credit union’s compliance officer to ensure compliance. · Formulate and maintain a loan procedure manual for the consumer and real estate loan department that is up-to-date with all regulations and requirements. Ensure that staff is trained and compliant with lending and collections regulations. · Establish budgets that support the credit union’s strategic business plan for the consumer and real estate loan department. Monitor progress on a regular basis. · Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general economic conditions or changing trends that may affect the credit union’s loan department. Provide timely feedback that allows the credit union to react competitively. · Maintain knowledge of competitors’ rates and terms and other trends relating to consumer lending. Construct products, rates, and terms that reflect the marketplace. · Provide input and recommendations for lending interest rates. · Develop, analyze, and complete monthly loan reports. Develop procedures and reporting tools for effective information to flow through the department. · Review loan approvals and denials for soundness of decisions. · Perform audits of consumer and mortgage loan files to ensure quality and that lending policies are followed. · Define appropriate limits of authority for consumer and mortgage loan personnel, and ensure adequate understanding of the credit union’s loan policies, procedures and guidelines. · Interview loan applicants, resolve member complaints involving loan decisions or errors on their accounts. · Serve on the Loan Committee and approve or deny applications as needed. · Establish and monitor effective control procedures for early stage delinquent loans. · Stay up-to-date on basic legal proceedings. Review bankruptcy procedures, repo procedures and notices, etc for accuracy and completeness. · Submit monthly credit bureau files as needed. · Submit monthly reporting and remittance files as needed for GAP, MRC, KILOD, etc. · Prepare and analyze reports for executive management and/or the Board of Directors. · Perform additional job functions as directed by the executive team and/or Board of Directors.
