Loan Assistant

POSITION PURPOSE
The Loan Assistant works with our loan staff and dealer partners and to prepare and complete all documents necessary for loan closings. They assist loan personnel with member follow-up, coordinate and schedule closings with necessary personnel, handle miscellaneous paperwork, maintain files, and answer telephone calls. The Loan Assistant also backs up branch personnel by opening accounts and onboarding members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
• Provides effective secretarial and clerical support for all phases of loan processing activities and promotions.
o Distributes loan paperwork to appropriate personnel.
o Coordinates and schedules loan closings with appropriate personnel.
o Books loans for indirect/dealer partners. Ensures all paperwork is in order and follows up with indirect/dealer partners for any missing documents.
o Receives and screens telephone calls. Answers routine questions or directs them to appropriate personnel. Records and relays messages.
o Completes loan processing duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Establishes and maintains effective and professional business relationships with members and external contacts.
o Resolves (or refers) requests and problems promptly and courteously. Answers member and dealer questions pertaining to promotions, loans, balances, and payoffs. Assists walk-ins.
o Keeps members properly informed of company policies and procedures.
• Effectively coordinates and communicates with area personnel and management.
o Completes assigned paperwork for management and MSRs promptly and accurately.
o Supports and assists area personnel as needed.
o Maintains departmental files.
o Attends and participates in meetings as required.
o Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RELATED DUTIES
• Performs these or other related duties as required or assigned:
o Backs up member service department by opening new memberships, actively cross-selling Credit Union products and services.
o Performs clerical and secretarial functions.
o Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
o Follows service standards and strives to meet and exceed Creating Member Loyalty (CML) program guidelines.
o Maintains and conveys the Company’s professional reputation.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
• Records, reports, and related documents are accurate, current, submitted and filed on time.
• Files are accurate and up to date.
• Good business relations exist with members and indirect/dealer partners. Problems and questions are courteously and promptly resolved or referred.
• Good working relationships and coordination exist with area personnel and with management. Assistance and support are provided as needed. Management is properly informed.
• Loan processing functions are completed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• The credit union’s professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.
